Shaping the future of European global health research
EGHRIN advocates for a strong and equitable place for global health research in the next generation of European research and innovation programmes.
As Europe prepares the future Framework Programme, FP10, and reflects on the next phase of global health partnerships, including the future of EDCTP, EGHRIN works to bring the expertise of global health research institutes into policy discussions. Our objective is to help ensure that European research funding supports long-term, equitable partnerships, strengthens research capacity, and responds to shared global health challenges.
Strengthening equitable research partnerships
Global health research must be built on collaboration, trust and mutual benefit. EGHRIN supports stronger links among European institutes and with global partners, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, to promote inclusive research agendas and more balanced forms of cooperation.
The network provides a space for members to exchange knowledge, identify opportunities for collaboration, and develop shared positions on the conditions needed for impactful and equitable global health research.
Connecting science, policy and implementation
EGHRIN works at the interface between research and policy. We support the translation of scientific evidence into policy-relevant insights and contribute to debates on health systems resilience, preparedness, access to innovation, One Health, climate and health, and global health governance.
By connecting researchers, policymakers, funders and implementation partners, EGHRIN helps ensure that global health research informs decisions that affect people and health systems within and beyond Europe.
Building visibility for European global health research
EGHRIN promotes the role of European global health research institutes in major academic, policy and funding spaces. Through joint activities, events, publications and congress engagement, the network increases the visibility of its members and creates opportunities for collective action.
In the coming period, EGHRIN will focus on strengthening its presence in key European and international global health fora, supporting member-led initiatives, and positioning the network as a trusted voice in the debate on the future of global health research.
